A short film that will help you explain what you are experiencing.
For anyone suffering with bulimia part of the problem is the isolation you experience. It seems you just can't tell anyone. You feel they'll judge you. This in turn contributes to further anxiety - compounding the situation. The very people from whom you should be feeling support, you typically isolate yourself from.
With this in mind I created a video for you. It's a simple idea. You simply buy the video, put it on either your computer or your MP3 player, and you ask them to watch the video. The video tells your parent (or spouse) a little about bulimia, introduces several people who are suffering from bulimia, and goes into some details of the nature of the problem.
I emphasise that this is not a choice. Neither is it a weakness. It's an illness. The person suffering from bulimia requires support and caring - not just to be told to pull themselves together. We both know - that just doesn't work in this case. I emphasise that there's no blame here. There are many reasons people find it hard to talk about bulimia. Neither you nor your parent or spouse need feel this is your 'fault'. It simply doesn't work that way.
At the conclusion of the video I tell the viewer they need to talk to whoever asked them to see this film. By that time they should have at least some understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing - and that it's support that's required, not criticism.
Simply the act of telling those people closest to you starts you on a road to recovery and provides greater support. You can buy this video now by using the 'Buy Now' button below. You will be directed to a download site, and can then download the video. It's quite big, so it takes a little time - however it is worth it.
